A Small Suburban GardenKrackatinni is a suburban garden of approximately 630sq. metres with clay soil. We have hot humid summers usually with days and sometimes weeks of 40 degrees plus. Winter brings some frosts. Our garden philosophy is simple: we wanted to create a sanctuary for both people and wildlife; to combine beauty with productivity; to encourage a sense of community - sharing food and resources with our neighbours; and most importantly sitting back with a beer in hand (hence the name!) to enjoy our space and to plan the next step . . .
Life can be fast and stressful today and sometimes people can lose sight of the simple basics. Remember when every garden had a lemon tree, a vegie patch and the odd chook or two? Remember when shops shut at 12pm on Saturday and Sunday was a family day in the garden? Remember when we actually had quality time for each other and knew our neighbours?
This is what Krackatinni is all about . . . creating a restful place to sit, a haven for wildlife and fresh food on the table! It’s not only about providing our own food, but gardening is food for the soul. We spend a lot of time in the garden, enjoying it, each other and our neighbours! |
